God's gift to us - Our Children.

This past weekend I had the privilege of attending the Joyce Meyers conference with a few of the women from our congregation. As Joyce was speaking she referred to our children and how we should not worry just give it up to God. I thought to myself that is easier said then done! But then I remembered our children are a gift from God and those of us that have dedicated our children back to Him need to depend on the Lord to help us bring them up. We need to accept our children for how God has made them. That does not mean we will always like what they do but we need to learn how to pray more effectively- fervently, frequently, and confidently- for God's destiny to be filled in each one of them.
If we read in 1 Samuel 1 we see Hannah coming to the Lord weeping in anguish for a son. (v.11) Her prayer is the first recorded prayer of a women in the Old Testament. We read on to find that over time she conceived and bore a son whom she called Samuel. I am sure every time Hannah called to her son she was reminded of God's faithfulness. Because of Hannah's earnest prayers Samuel grew to be a mighty man of God.
We learn to pray for our children by (1) giving them back to God (2) forgiving them (3) loving them unconditionally. Most of us will experience some disappointment in our kids - it goes with
the territory. We need to just keep praying and forgiving and looking to the Lord.

Thank you for reminding me. I too get frustrated at times with my children...Actually tonight was one of those nights and here I was blessed with your blog. Thank you so much for your words.
My prayer every night includes the protection with the blood for my children and the strenth and knowledge for me to raise them according to the Lord. I will continue to pray for you and your wonderful family as well....Thank you again Becky.
